Treasurer’s Report

Peggy Bakken presented for Mary Lynn Kessenich.  There have been few expenses to pay.  Marilyn Murphy wanted clarification of the reading incentive line item. Specifically, what needs to be presented as a request and what can be submitted as a bill for payment?  Deb Fischer has a special pricing offer from Barnes and Noble and she wants to restock the STAR bags.  Peggy Bakken stated the reimbursement would come from the separate STAR line item.  Marilyn suggested that the teacher request forms be available on the PTO website.  Katie Lindell made a motion to approve, Anne Weiland seconded.  Approved.

Committee Reports

Fund Raising

The spring sale dates are March 16-26.  Patty Tucker reported that Club Choice is suggesting a $50 prize be offered to the class from each school that has the highest sales.  This idea was rejected.   Club Choice will provide the publicity posters.  The pick up date is April 24, 3:15-5:15 in the PVE small gym.

Anne Weiland said that according to Andy Weiland, PTO does not have to go to extremes to support the Wellness Policy by cutting out all non-compliant food items from future fundraisers.  Patty informed us that the food items Geckler will be offering in the fall contain no trans fat.

Science Fair

Mary Jo Romero reported that all the plans are going well although there are very few registration forms returned at this point.  There is a need for volunteers.  It was suggested the OHS National Honor Society members might be interested in helping, contact Leslie Burks.

Art Fair

Sue Tierman has offered to co-chair with Peggy Bakken.  There is a meeting on February 13, 6:30 PM at the Firefly.  The fair is April 21 at PVE instead of NKE.  Mr. Freitag has reserved the NKE gym for softball practice every Saturday through the spring.

Social

Katie Lindell reported the teacher dinners are scheduled for February 15 at NKE and March 1 at PVE.

Old Business

Marilyn Murphy offered information on the NINA Fun Run.  Amy Miller wanted it scheduled in March.  However, due to the cold weather and the NKE school play, it was suggested that the date be moved to May.  Amy Miller has not followed up.  The NKE Bike Rodeo is scheduled for May 18, rain date May 21.  Linda Barron will come to speak at a future PTO meeting.
